About the song

We Will Meet Again came to life not for the sake of staying busy during self-isolation, but to capture the pivotal moment we’re living like a photographer.

In early January I was preparing for an international tour that would start in April and bring me to New York, Tokyo, Paris, and London.  By early March I was in confinement, at home, and by the end of March I saw not only my tour dates cancelled but everything scheduled for 2020.

I’m in lockdown in small coastal village in Belgium. My family is well and healthy while outside our little community people we know are fighting for their lives and some have already passed away. Seen from the beauty and peacefulness of my village this crisis is as invisible as it is real.

Nevertheless, for my community the lockdown is hitting hard. The village relies on its visitors, and no one is allowed to come in until the end of August, which is the end of our high season. We all know it’s for the best, of course, but that doesn’t change the impact.

So here we are, at the end of April and people are already struggling.  Businesses are shuttering and the village is in survival mode. But people around here are tough and have communal pride. Togetherness has never been more present, despite quarantining, and so we keep hope: we will meet again!
